Just got an email from Ms Slater at England Lane Academy in Knottingley, West Yorkshire, to say that a pupil in her year 3 class was inspired to write a story after the National Storytelling Week event with NLT last week.
Check it out below, it’s brilliant! Thank you so much Aeryth Matthews. Your story sucked me in and gripped me all the way. And I can already imagine a part two: The Return of R & R! send any more whenever you like!
Annie from Aylsham High sent me drafts of two new pieces they’ve been working on. Thanks Annie. Really love how the flow of both pieces makes me feel to speak them out loud and the endings for both are wicked! Send more any time!
I led an online world-building session with National Literacy Trust yesterday, creating and populating a street. It was awesome. Shout out to Vicky, Mary-Kate and Charlie for all their work. Loved it. Thanks to everyone getting in touch too.
Miss Kaplan from Sharnbrook Primary School reached out to share a narrative poem her class wrote inspired by the session about their own street. Big up The Eagles and check out these words!
13 Rocky Road
by the Eagles 2024 (Sharnbrook Primary School)
Number thirteen, Rocky Road
Lives a family within a strange abode
Cookie door handle, pretzel knocker
Beware the mother, she’s off her rocker!
When you’re asleep, cozy in bed
There are sounds you’ll hear that’ll fill you with dread…
Cranky Crunch: sweetshop keeper
His sweets will lure you to the Grim Reaper
When you walk through his shop door
Beware! You may end up dead on the floor
Your body used as a host
For a story that’s darker than most
The Crunch family seem so sweet
But the things they do will give you the creeps
The Crunch children, innocent they are not
Messing with time as they plot…
Using humans as a disguise
Making the hairs on your neck rise!
Number eleven, Rocky Road
Lives Percy Gumdrop who thinks he knows
An awful lot about the Crunch’s evil plot
But, will he take a risky shot?
His daughter Lily was gone in a flash
Did Caroline Crunch add her to her stash?
Of human hosts to hide the family secret
So evil, they should be on a ‘wanted’ leaflet
Will old Percy make the cookies crumble?
The Crunch’s identities will soon be rumbled.
For those who are in the know…
The family are spawned from cookie dough!
I met Keisan from Woodstock Primary Academy the other day when he performed a poem at South Wigston Academy. We got chatting about ideas and he said he’d send some shots of a comic he’s been working on. Thanks Keisan, love it. Send more any time!
Annie from Aylsham High in Norfolk said she’d write me a bespoke poem from a title I suggested. Love this! Thanks Annie.
